Among the most universally appreciated talents is dancing. It goes without saying that there is a certain sense of universality in this pastime, so much that it is one thing common across most places and cultures. In the strictest sense of the word, dancing is really a skill. It is something one can do well enough with the right amount of practice and exposure. However, once in a while, there are certain people who do it exceptionally well that they promote it to the deified position of talent instead of skill, and an art instead of some freestyle enterprise.

There are many elements that make up a good dance. One is the dancers ability to keep up and ability to sway with the music. However simplistic that may sound, anyone knows thats not as easy as its cut out to be. Nonetheless, keeping count with the beat is something that seemingly hardwired in other peoples psyche, that which must be the stirrings of a talented dancer.

Most likely, there is also the flexibility and dexterity of the body. That is not needed per se. Nevertheless, most accomplished dancers seemingly do this with no qualms whatsoever. One might ask whether flexibility and dexterity is what makes a good dancer, or else vice versa. However it goes, thats comparative to the classic existential chicken and the egg question.

Good dancing is something thats also indescribably good to look at. This is better appreciated when one looks at the whole picture and the plain surface, never minding the technicalities. When one delves into the technicalities of dance, it would no doubt equate to that of rocket science.

However, looking at just the surface appearance of one particular presentation, like the classical ballet, one might be taken in, even without thinking, of the classic beauty, gracefulness, and poeticism of this art. Dancing is a universal language that just about anyone understands. It transcends age, cultures, and knowledge. For example, even an unschooled child may be able to understand the storytelling aspect of a particular dance.

To start off, the physical benefits to ones health cannot be overstated enough. Dancing encourages movement and activity, and it follows that its an effective fat burner. This also further vamps up ones circulation and respiration. The muscles will also be toned and the bones will be further strengthened.

Dancing is also a form of mental stimulation, one that continually galvanizes ones ability to coordinate, memorize, balance, and be more spatially perceptive. All in all, that will no doubt equate to improved mental functioning. Aside from the physical and mental, one might also be able to track improvement is his or her social skills and psychological well being. This is brought about by increased physical confidence, confidence, and self esteem. The connections one forms with his peers would also be very much contributive to his or her social weal.

The thing, though, is that this particular activity proffers a considerable range of benefits and advantages. The health advantages that come with increased activity is no mean feat. Throw in the benefits to ones spatial perception and memory, plus the sense of camaraderie and teamwork one can glean from dances with ones team. There is also the sense of achievement and self esteem that naturally comes to representing yourself in front of an audience. No doubt, then, that dance competitions are all the rage every time.
