A Shade On School Mascot Murals

By Carl Jackson

Most academic institutions have become a second home for students. This is because every person has to spend at least one-fourth of their entire lifetime in school thus it is not uncommon to find that people may feel emotionally attached to them. The best of these memories are created especially by the school mascot murals which are painted on the walls of almost all the institutions.

It is a normal thing to find that every institution has its traditions and memories that are mostly kept in wall drawings. The academic facilities even use them as a way to communicate effectively in cases where the communication cannot be done verbally. Also, students tend to be more influenced by paintings. Thus they tend to remember drawings better than text hence making learning more accessible.

The wall paintings are used to support togetherness and the general identity of the academic institutions. More so, they create the feeling of belonging and nostalgia thus people tend to hold on to the memories. People are usually identified by their ethnic groups, citizenship, and age-groups. Similarly, school symbols also act as an identity for students.

These visual graphics also builds the pride of the learning and the spirit. The logos, motto, slogans, and colors are important iconic elements that are frequently used to express the pride and spirit of a school. Also, the symbols that are painted on the walls exhibit how an institution feels about itself. This makes the students look forward to learning days since they feel at peace all the time.

Sports are activities that are enjoyed by every student. Therefore, the visual graphics nurture sportsmanship. These events are normally important as they bring togetherness and harmony and act as a bond to all students. Also, people do not care about grades or classes during sports events because they all have one goal, to enjoy the activities. The motivation is brought about by the paintings which promote unity among these students.

No institution does not have tradition and culture. In the same way, academic institutions have cultures and traditions that make it have its legacy. Good morals and character of these leaner are mostly acquired from the institutions because that is the place they spend most of a day in. Thus, the leaner grow up to be very responsible people.

These wall symbols create special moments and memories, and most students hold on to them a long time after they graduate. The reason behind this is that the visual graphics usually live for many generations thus every person who went through that institution can still remember them vividly. The drawings tell the origin of the school in a symbolic way and act as a lucky charm for the academy as well as these students.

More so, the wall paintings are a way of positively impacting the leaner as well as the society. All people that passed through the institutions can say that it acted as a stronghold of their character, apart from learning. Therefore, the images and symbols are important in shaping the character of these students and help them to lead better lives once they are out of school.
