By Barbara Myers

Not so many people have heard about impressionism, and they do not know what it is. Impressionist prints are a form of painting that uses bright colors that can accurately depict visual reality. It started becoming popular about two centuries ago and has grown to be accepted by many people today. It mostly focuses on modernity compared to the other forms of painting.

The drawings were so revolutionary as they differed from most of the classical or fantastical scenes. This is because of the use of this technique of broken brushstrokes to depict the real life that emphasized the overall impression of a place. They were mostly thought to have an unfinished look. This kind of artistic struggled to be popular.

In the old days, many paintings that captured impressionism were rejected in exhibitions by the artwork organizations. This made the rejected painters to from their exhibition centers to display their art that was very different from the classical standards of painting. However, the public did not readily accept them thus it was a big struggle for them.

Later, one artist created a painting which he called the impression which looked like an unfinished sketch. He started a movement called impressionism which was named after the painting. The public became hostile towards the movement, but later, some people started embracing the new methods that played only with modern scenes and light.

The movement started to grow very fast as many people started to accept it. This lead to the formation of an art association that was mean to help all the painters to exhibit their artwork individually. 30 painters attended the very first exhibition, 3,500 people and 165 paintings were showcased. Some painters later decided to fall out from the exhibitions, but the ones who were left behind continued to exhibit their unique paintings without fear.

In later years, many people were now accepting this kind of artistry as they were being impressed by it. It became very influential in that it started defining how people expressed what they feel in the form of art. This made more and more painters to sprout and exhibit their works of art without being afraid of the reaction of public.

At first, people were shocked to see this form of art as they were not used to see paintings that are done in such bright colors. They were used to cool colors because most of the classical painters used golden paints that were thick to tone their paintings down. To add to that, the impressionist painters used liked using colors that were bright and vivid in their drawings.

Usually, most impressionism paintings centered on modernity especially suburbs, but there are others that depicted the rural settings. Some of these artists focused on drawing the daily lives of a local villagers while others focused on landscapes such as railways as well as factories. Therefore, these paintings were a very vivid way of expressing the lives of people.
