It is often a dream of a young girl or boy to become an actor, singer or dancer. In some cases, one may want to be involved in all three areas of the theater arts. Most often, while becoming involved in elementary, middle or high school, the child grows up and follows a different career path. When a pre-teen or teenage girl dreams of becoming a teen actress, there are often steps one can reach to make the dream a reality.

While those acting as teenagers often find the business exciting, there are also drawbacks. For example, most often the career goes well off screen and into teen magazines with stories that are often less than true. As such, anyone going into this business must be have tough skin in order to overcome these instances. Although, for those who can, it can often lead to an exciting career.

As to how to become involved in acting as a teenager, there are several steps one can take. The first and foremost is that of networking with others of similar interest. For, whether applying for a basic job, or auditioning for a part, networking is key to success.

Once talking with people in the industry, it is important to be as clear as possible about the type parts or performances one wishes to do. For, these might just be the individuals who know people in the industry who can help. In large part, connections created through others can often lead to the most interesting and outstanding roles in the business.

When going to auditions and not getting a part, rejection can often be difficult. While this is the case, keep in mind that talent, like beauty is often in the eye of the beholder. As such, while not accepted for one part that does not mean that one might not be perfect for another part in a film or stage production.

Some of the most important contacts one has when desiring to enter the entertainment business is that of drama and music teachers. It is essential that those interested take as many acting, speech and communications classes as possible. As most auditions require acting and singing, it is often best to also take voice and music lessons. In taking as many of these classes as possible, students often have an edge against others who have not done so.

Some of the best people who can help a teen move forward in this career choice is that of music, drama and speech teachers. For, these individuals often notice talent during school assignments, dances, plays and other productions. As such, the teacher might be able to suggest the appropriate area in which one might want to get started in the business.

Individuals with the most dance, film, music and stage performance are often the ones who are going to succeed in the entertainment industry. As such, it is often recommended that anyone interested in a career in this area participate in as many theater arts programs as possible while in school. Participating in local talent shows and other events such as church productions can also go a long way in proving a sincere interest and dedication with regards to making working in the industry a long term goal.
